Education:
PhD in Earth Sciences, 2001, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Thesis title: Subaquatic slope curvature and its relation to sedimentary processes and sediment composition.

MS in Earth Sciences, 1996, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Research topics: 1) Carbon-isotope stratigraphy of Cenomanian-Turonian deposits, Crimean Peninsula, Ukraine. 2) Stratal geometry and petrophysics of a Late Carboniferous carbonate platform, Asturias, Spain.

Research Interests:
Sedimentology with an emphasis on carbonate depositional systems, stratigraphic evolution and depositional architecture of sedimentary deposits, field geology and applying new technologies to outcrop studies.

Current Research Projects:
Digital reconstruction and stratigraphic evolution of a microbial-dominated, terminal Proterozoic, isolated carbonate platform, Nama Group, Namibia.
Digital multiscale 3-D characterization of carbonate rocks, Canning Basin, Western Australia. This project is carried out in collaboration with Cambridge University, UK.
Digital-field geology and constructing numerical, reservoir-scale outcrop models of a carbonate ramp, Nama Group, Namibia
