  • Brian Ross is a computer science professor at Brock University, St Catharines, Ontario, Canada. He is also active in computer art and music on the side, and has a freelance company called Gothic Monkey Graphics. "I use a variety of 3D tools, but especially enjoy Bryce and its powerful texturing abilities". More graphics are available at his web site. He provides the following notes on his images. Ostrogoth II, Ostrogoth III - these two pieces are based on an ancient Ostrogothic eagle emblem. The eagle in both pictures is created from a height field. Ostrogoth II attempts to convey desolation and ruin, while Ostrogoth III is a sci-fi variation. Gargoyles - This is a picture modelled entirely with height fields, and illustrates the power of height field as a modelling technique. The gargoyles were scanned from simple drawings, and then retouched to remove unwanted shadows (which play havoc with realistic 3D rendering). The Dying of the Light - Again, height fields were used for the creatures. Paga Cotton Swab Aliens - A strange, humourous picture. All objects modelled with Bryce primitives. Necropolis I - Another height field model from a scanned picture. This picture was postprocessed with Kai's Power Tools and KPT Convolver.
