In 1987, Aaron Goldenberg left his mainstream career in New York to travel west, carrying with him a camera and a dream of becoming a landscape photographer. Although he's spent enough time hiking the west's backcountry to become "seasoned", his large format landscapes capture the essence and wonder of experiencing this country for the first time.

Aaron creates his images in a variety of different formats from 35 mm through 4" x 5". Although he is proficient in all these media, he stresses the importance of understanding light and composition, as opposed to placing too much emphasis on equipment. "When you realize how the film interprets light and tonal balance, you realize that your equipment is really secondary." This point is made as you walk through the gallery. Images made on 35 mm film sit next to images created from 4" x 5" and are equally stunning.

Patience is also a virtue when it comes to landscape and scenic photography, Aaron sometimes waits days, weeks, or for a return trip the following year, just to capture the right light.
